NANK Clip Super
Nank sent me these headphones to test out and I’ve been wearing them pretty exclusively for the last few weeks and I’ve got to say, that I’ve been pretty impressed. As with any tech, there are a lot of great things to talk about but there are also a few things to consider.

This was the first set of earbuds I’ve worn that clip around the outside of the ear. I was a little skeptical at first as to how secure these earbuds would be on the run, but in the miles I’ve run and walked while wearing them, I’ve never had one fall off. I did have an initial period of discomfort if I wore the earbuds too long at one time, however, that dissipated very quickly as my ears grew used to the placement of the earbuds.
Initial pairing is very straightforward and to date I haven’t had any issues with connection. Periodically there has been a momentary “decoupling” where the audio seems to skip a bit but it fixes itself within a second or two and the issue disappears.
I’m very much an audiobook/podcast guy when I’m running and the sound quality on the earbuds is great. One thing to keep in mind is that these are still an open ear design, so you will be hearing everything around you. As an athlete this is a big positive, however, if you are in a very loud environment or running along a busy street, the environmental noise can overpower the audio you are listening to. Personally, I consider that a positive, as I want that awareness of my surroundings at all times.
The touch controls are pretty intuitive, though if I’m adjusting volume or making calls, I tend to use the phone for that as it’s almost always within easy reach. You can raise the volume, answer and end the calls with a few taps of the earbud units.
Phone calls over the unit are clear on both ends, I was able to hear the caller very well and they could hear me.
Between the quick charging capability of the base unit and the long life of the earbuds themselves, I’m planning to use these for my next few ultra race efforts. As my ears have adjusted to having the clips on, even when i’m not listening to something it’s nice to have the phone connection for calls when needed, or when I need to go deeper into the pain cave.
My one complaint is an issue that is common to many earbuds with charging bases. Occasionally the earbuds don’t shut down when placed in the case, and remain paired to my phone. I’ve found this is most common when the contact points are dirty or have sweat on them, so a wipe down post workout usually prevents this from happening.
In short I’ve very much enjoyed using the Clip Supers from Nank and feel comfortable recommending them for anyones use. The cost of this unit relative to other units of the same style make it an excellent buy. You purchase them here and can save 15% with the code “spiritofrunning” at checkout.
